With so many people working from home these days, trying to find time to fit exercise in a busy day’s schedule. Luckily, there are plenty of simple exercises you can do at your desk to increase circulation and improve blood flow throughout your body. Even if you have a shared workspace, these simple “deskercises” are subtle enough you can do them without garnering major looks from your coworkers. Here are a few simple leg exercises to try out today!
This one is pretty simple. While seated, keep one foot on the floor and raise the other leg straight out so it’s parallel with the floor. Hold for five seconds and repeat with the other leg. To make it more of a challenge, try making small circles with your foot while outstretched.
Stretch your legs out in front of you with your feet barely off the ground. While hovering, point your right foot towards your body, and at the same time, point your left foot away from your body. This simple movement should stretch your calf muscles. Try to keep a good, steady rhythm going for 30 seconds.
This one requires a prop- a small ball with a little give, like a tennis ball. While seated, take the ball, place it between your knees and squeeze for 5 seconds, then relax. Be careful not to drop the ball! Then repeat approximately 15 times.
Other Tips For Improving Overall Health at Work
In addition to the simple exercises above, there are a few other easy ways to improve your circulation, blood flow and overall health during the working day:
- Correct your posture
- Take a short walk around the parking lot or building
- Drink plenty of water
